OFFICIAL RULEBOOK · VERSION 2026.1

A clear standard for research, execution, and judgement.

These rules govern the 6Africa Stock Trading Challenge. The platform is an educational simulation: no participant money, brokerage account, deposit, withdrawal, or legal security ownership is involved.

UNIVERSITY LEAGUE

University-sponsored teams

University and Institution League teams use the same simulated market infrastructure but compete in separate standings and are never ranked against each other.

Students

Three to five currently enrolled students from one university. One student is the captain.

Sponsorship

A named faculty advisor and department or affiliated-club approval are required. Advisors do not trade.

Verification

Every active student, the university affiliation, and institutional approval must be verified before team approval.

Consent

Rules and required data processing are accepted individually. Media participation is optional and recorded separately.

INSTITUTION LEAGUE · POLICY 2026.1

Employer-authorized institutional teams

The Institution League is a separately governed division. Its requirements are published now; registration opens only after the institutional verification workflow is enabled.

REGISTRATION PLANNED

Participants

Three to five current employees from one approved institution. One employee is the captain.

Authorization

A named Institutional Sponsor / Senior Mentor must confirm employer authorization. A compliance contact is required for regulated institutions.

Verification

The institution, participant affiliation, business email, roster, required consent, and employer approval must be verified before trading.

League separation

Institution teams receive their own standings, awards, judge assignments, reports, and results. They do not compete against students.

University sponsorship

One named faculty advisor and documented department approval are required.

Price source

The latest verified platform quote for the security and its exchange.

FX method

Local-currency units per USD; local value is divided by the verified platform FX rate.

Trading fees

Each simulated fill applies a 0.75% fee to gross trade value.

Order execution

Buy and sell orders are immediate simulated fills at the latest verified quote; limit, stop, short, margin, derivative, and real-money orders are not supported. Quotes older than 60 minutes are rejected. The default price-protection tolerance is 100 basis points; the absolute maximum is 500 basis points. Orders above 1,000,000 shares or submitted less than 750 milliseconds after the previous team order are rejected.

Dividends

Verified cash dividends are credited in USD using record-date units and the challenge FX convention.

Corporate actions

Mandatory share adjustments are applied idempotently while preserving simulated cost basis.

Benchmark method

Time-weighted percentage return from the common trading-open baseline; official USD total/net-return series are used without participant cash flows.

Winner decision

The official winner score is determined from the configured trading window and the published weighted rubric. One-, three-, and five-year returns are longitudinal learning reports only and do not change the edition winner.

ENABLED MARKET SESSIONS

Exchange-local trading windows

This table is read from the active edition. Only these operator-certified exchanges may be traded. Published holidays override recurring sessions.

CHALLENGE ROUNDS

Three rounds, one published score.

01

Investment thesis

A structured written thesis is submitted and locked for judging.

02

Portfolio and operations review

Judges assess construction, process, execution feasibility, liquidity, and the deployable share of capital.

03

Maintenance and presentation

Teams maintain the simulated portfolio through the official window and defend their decisions before judges.

Regional, semi-final, and final advancement follows the published event schedule and the same weighted rubric. The edition winner is fixed after the configured trading close and completed judging. One-, three-, and five-year portfolio tracking is an alumni learning record—not a retroactive change to the winner.

SCORING

Process outweighs short-term return.

Each judge scores every category from 0–100 and confirms a team-specific conflict-of-interest declaration. Scores are calculated and published separately for each league; private comments are not published.

BENCHMARKS

Named USD return series

All comparisons begin from the common trading-open baseline. A benchmark is shown only after its official level and source have been certified by challenge operations.

Integrity and decisions

Deadlines

Submitted theses lock at the deadline. Challenge records, scores, approvals, and administrative actions are time-stamped.

Market data

Orders fail closed when prices, FX, exchange status, eligibility, quantity, or price protection do not meet the configured rules.

Committee authority

The committee may suspend, restore, disqualify, or unpublish a team with a recorded reason and preserved audit evidence.

INSTITUTIONAL CONDUCT

Public information only.

Employer authorization does not replace applicable law or an institution's internal compliance rules. The stricter applicable requirement governs.

  1. 01Participants may use public information only and must not use or disclose material nonpublic information.
  2. 02Client information, employer-confidential information, proprietary restricted-list data, and research that the participant is not authorized to share must not be entered into the platform.
  3. 03Each participant must comply with applicable law and their employer's personal-dealing, confidentiality, conflicts, and challenge-participation policies.
  4. 04Actual or perceived conflicts of interest must be disclosed promptly to the challenge committee.
  5. 05The simulation must not be used to coordinate, recommend, or execute real-market activity.

EMPLOYER AUTHORIZATION

Required confirmation

The Institutional Sponsor / Senior Mentor must confirm that the named participants are current employees, the institution authorizes use of its name, participation does not breach employer policy, and an appropriate compliance contact has reviewed participation where required. Authorization may be withdrawn; the team will then be suspended pending review.

AWARDS

Awards, eligibility conditions, funding amounts, custody arrangements, and jurisdiction restrictions are binding only when published in the official award schedule before scored trading begins. Participation does not guarantee a cash prize, funded account, employment opportunity, or investment account.

INSTITUTIONAL PRIVACY

Purpose-limited verification.

purpose

Identity, employment affiliation, eligibility, challenge administration, assessment, integrity, security, and reporting.

minimization

The challenge collects only information reasonably required for those purposes. Employment documents are requested only when domain and sponsor verification are insufficient.

access

Verification evidence is restricted to authorized challenge operations, security, legal, and compliance reviewers.

retention

Verification evidence is retained only for the period stated in the applicable privacy notice and then deleted or de-identified unless law or an active dispute requires longer retention.

media

Public profiles, participant images, recruiting visibility, and marketing use require separate optional consent and are not conditions of participation.

The applicable privacy notice and law govern if they impose a stricter requirement. Participation consent and optional media consent remain separate choices.
